Stay up to date with the Liberal Party of Australia
At the outset of a new Parliamentary term, and in the 125th year of our Commonwealth, we Parliamentarians gather at the @awmemorial to remember and reflect.
This place reminds us of the true cost of war. There’s a reason Parliament and the Cabinet room were built in the direct line of sight to the seat of our national soul – so that we in Parliament may never forget the sacrifices of those who answered the call to serve. They served so that we may live and work in this great country free from tyranny.
We thank them. We remember them. Lest we forget.

Official data confirms what families see every week: under Labor, the cost of living crisis is getting worse, not better.
Essentials are surging, driven by Labor’s spending.
Government spending is growing 13 times faster than we expected.
In fact, it’s at its highest level outside of a recession in 40 years.
This is not sustainable. It will result in higher taxes and higher prices for all Australians.
Because when Labor spends, Australians always pay.

Labor has failed to manage their home-grown inflation crisis, and Australians are paying the price.

Australians were promised relief but are now being asked to brace for more hip-pocket pain.
Feb 2
Labor’s spending has blown out from 24% to 27% of GDP, the highest level outside a recession in nearly 40 years.

Today, we’re announcing a comprehensive deregulation agenda to get Australia’s economy moving again.
At its core is slashing government red tape that’s holding back growth, investment, and innovation.
Less red tape will mean our tradies, farmers and businesses can spend less time dealing with government and more time creating, growing and trading.
Since coming to office, Labor has introduced thousands of new regulations and hundreds of new laws, adding billions of dollars in compliance costs.
The Liberal Party knows Australia’s economic recovery won’t come from Canberra writing more rules – it will come from backing Australians to take risks, start businesses, build homes and create jobs.
That’s exactly what we’re going to do.

When governments lose control of spending, families pay the price.
Independent experts have now confirmed that most of Labor’s $57 billion budget blowout comes from higher spending, not lower tax revenue, despite what Treasurer Jim Chalmers has claimed.
Why does that matter to you?
Because when government spends too much:
•Prices stay higher for longer
•Interest rates are pushed up
•Mortgages, rents and everyday bills cost more
•And debt gets handed to the next generation to pay for with higher taxes.
Strong budgets are not about politics. They are about protecting living standards and keeping pressure off family finances.
Australians deserve honesty, discipline, and economic management that works for them.

Anyone can be an inflation spotter because under Labor, you see it everywhere.
⬆️ Food up 16 per cent
⬆️ Rents up 22 per cent
⬆️ Electricity bills up nearly 40 per cent.
And the average mortgage holder paying around $21,000 a year more in interest than under the Liberals.
This is what Labor’s economic mismanagement looks like in real life. Higher bills, higher repayments, and less left at the end of the week.
The Liberal Party has been clear about the direction we would take. Living within our means to put downward pressure on inflation, delivering affordable and reliable energy, and cutting personal income taxes so Australians can keep more of what they earn.
What Australians choose to spend their money on is their call.
Our job is to make sure they can afford to make that choice.

Why can’t Labor ever take responsibility for their actions?

Labor refuses to take responsibility for their reckless spending which has kept inflation high.

ICYMI, inflation is getting worse under Labor, and that is putting upward pressure on the cash rate and household budgets right across the country.
The average mortgage holder is already paying around $21,000 a year more in interest on their home loan than they were under the Liberals.
For renters, the pain is just as real, with rents up 22 per cent under Labor.
This government talks about helping families, but when it cannot rein in inflationary spending, it is working Australians who pay the price.
Only the Liberal Party will get spending under control, ease cost of living pressures, and make sure Australians get to keep more of what they work so hard to earn.

Such a beautiful send-off for my friend and colleague, Dr Katie Allen, this morning in Melbourne.
Her children spoke with extraordinary grace, reminding us all of the love at the heart of her life. We were also reminded of Katie’s tireless commitment to helping others — in medicine, in politics, and in her personal life.
Katie Allen leaves behind more than a record of service and a devoted family. She leaves behind a standard of professionalism, compassion, humility and courage. She showed us what it means to live a life of purpose, to lead with integrity, and to serve with heart. She will be missed.

Today, we gather to remember and honour the life of Dr Katie Allen. A woman of rare grace, intellect and courage, Katie’s impact reached far beyond politics and will endure for many years to come.
I remember the last time I saw Katie, in Canberra bringing the next generation of women leaders to meet parliamentary leaders. She could easily have been at home, resting during what were the last stages of her illness. But the fire burned as bright as it always had, in her eyes and her heart.
I miss my friend already. I will always miss her.

Was Jim Chalmers misleading Australians when he claimed victory on inflation last year?
Jan 28
Labor`s economic mismanagement means higher inflation, costing all Australians.

Families are doing everything they can, but under Labor the cost of living is getting worse, not better.
Today`s inflation data is not abstract economics, it is the weekly shop, the power bill and the mortgage.
Every extra dollar families are paying at the checkout or on their power bill is a reminder that Labor has lost control of the economy.
Hardworking Australians expect their government to ease pressure, not add to it. But under Labor, the cost of living crisis is deepening.
Jan 28
Inflation remains high because of Labor`s out of control spending and weak economic management.
