Our Plan

Fix the economy. Protect our way of life.

OUR PLAN TO

Put Australians First

Under Labor, government spending has hit it’s highest point in 40 years, and Australia is less secure and Australians are less safe.

Because of Labor’s out-of-control spending, Australians are paying more for everything due to high inflation and our debt is set to hit $1 trillion for the first time.

We will establish a Future Generations Fund to pay down Labor’s trillion dollars of debt and invest in long-lasting, nation-building infrastructure – roads, ports, energy and water.

OUR PLAN

A Taylor Coalition Government will:
  • Put a speed limit on spending – preventing government from spending faster than the economy is growing.
  • Revitalise the Charter of Budget Honesty, first introduced by the Howard Government.
  • Establish a new Future Generations Fund, saving money from windfalls from high commodity prices to pay down debt and invest in nation-building infrastructure.
  • Limit access to welfare payments and benefits to Australian citizens only, including future access to the NDIS.
  • Implement a whole-of-government National Security Strategy.
  • Invest at least 3% of GDP in defence.
OUR PRIORITY

LESS DEBT, BETTER GOVERNMENT

Under Labor, government spending has hit its highest point in four decades outside the pandemic.

That’s equivalent to every taxpayer having to pay $5,000 extra each year. Because of Labor’s out-of-control spending, Australians are paying more for everything due to high inflation and our debt is set to hit $1 trillion for the first time.

To fund its spending addiction, Labor has increased taxes on families and small businesses, and they’re hiding the true cost of their fiscal mismanagement by pushing more and more spending “off-budget”.

  • In real terms, government spending has soared by $5,000 per taxpayer, per year, under Labor.

For Australians to have the means to live, government must live within its means.

Every dollar the government spends is a dollar taken from Australians today, or from our children tomorrow. Spending should be prudent and responsible, minimising the need to collect additional tax and further burden Australian families and small businesses.

Disciplined budgets are how the Coalition keeps taxes low, pays down debt and protects the economy against shocks.

OUR SOLUTION

A Taylor Coalition Government will:
  • End Labor’s corporate welfare – like the National Reconstruction Fund and billions to green energy projects that do not stack up.
  • End Labor’s climate bureaucracy – like the EV tax rebate, the Net Zero Authority, and Rewiring the Nation Fund.
  • End Labor’s housing bureaucracy – like the Housing Australia Future Fund which is failing to build the homes we need, and handing tens of millions to big builders, not first home buyers.
  • Secure our safety net for Australians – by reserving future access to 17 different welfare programs and the NDIS to Australian citizens only.
  • Introduce a Tax Back Guarantee and Future Generations Fund, which will protect the massive revenue windfalls that have been blown by Labor.
  • Put a speed limit on spending – preventing government from spending faster than the economy is growing.
  • Restore the tax-to-GDP cap – a limit on what government can take in tax.
  • Revitalise the Charter of Budget Honesty, first introduced by the Howard Government.
OUR PRIORITY

FUTURE GENERATIONS FUND

Australia has been blessed with extraordinary natural resources – and they can only be extracted and sold once.

High commodity prices deliver a temporary windfall to the Budget, but a temporary windfall is not permanent income. Labor treats windfall revenue from one-time resources as though it will last forever – leaving the country with unfunded permanent spending, higher debt and fewer choices in the future.

That is not responsible.

  • Under a Coalition Government, 80 cents in every dollar of windfall resource revenue will be saved, paying down debt and building for the future. Since 2022, Labor has wasted over $400 billion in higher revenue from inflation and resource profits.

“Australia is the lucky country — but we should not waste our luck.”

Angus Taylor

Families understand that if their household receives a one-off bonus, they do not treat that bonus as permanent income.

They pay down the mortgage, fix what needs fixing, invest in the future, or put something aside for the kids.

The Budget should be managed with the same discipline. Australia is the lucky country – but we should not waste our luck.

OUR PLAN

The Coalition will establish a Future Generations Fund – saving the windfall to build for the future.
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
  • Bank 80 cents in every dollar of windfall company tax and resource rent tax from major commodities into the Fund, kept separate from the day-to-day Budget.
  • Use the Fund to pay down Labor’s trillion dollars of debt and invest in long-lasting, nation-building infrastructure – roads, ports, energy and water.
  • 25 per cent of funding will be for the regions that fuel, feed and power our nation.
  • Table a Future Generations statement to the Parliament each year, accounting for every windfall dollar.
OUR PRIORITY

PUT AUSTRALIANS FIRST

Australians believe in a fair go and looking after those most in need.

Our welfare system and the NDIS are designed to support Australians when they are older, when they lose work, when they live with disability, or when life takes a difficult turn.

Currently, at least 17 welfare payments and benefits – plus the NDIS – are open to non-citizens, with some programs available on arrival.

  • Under Coalition Government from 1 July 2028, 17 welfare benefits and future eligibility for the NDIS will be reserved for Australian citizens.

Our welfare system and the NDIS should put Australian citizens first.

Our generous safety net should prioritise Australian citizens who have made the commitment to Australia and its values.

This does not mean Australia stops being generous – it means the system has clear rules, clear priorities and a sustainable foundation.

OUR PLAN

The Coalition will put Australians first.
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
  • From 1 July 2028, limit access to 17 welfare payments and benefits to Australian citizens only.
  • Limit future eligibility for the NDIS to Australian citizens only.
  • Grandfather existing welfare recipients, and maintain current exemptions and international arrangements.
  • Guarantee current access to Medicare and hospitals.
OUR PRIORITY

STRENGTHENING AUSTRALIA’S SECURITY

Under Labor, Australia is less secure and Australians are less safe.

We face increasing and more dangerous threats from terrorism, organised crime, cyber attacks, foreign espionage and overseas conflicts.

Labor has neglected national security and provided no clear vision for how Australia will overcome these threats. They have failed to give our security agencies the direction and funding they need to keep Australians safe.

The first duty of government is to keep Australians safe.

The Coalition will protect our way of life and ensure Australia is able to stand up for itself in an uncertain world.

  • The Coalition will invest at least 3 per cent of GDP to strengthen Australia’s defence.

OUR PLAN

The Coalition will make Australia stronger and safer.
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
  • Implement a whole-of-government National Security Strategy – providing long-overdue direction for how all elements of Australian power are coordinated to secure Australians at home and our interests abroad.
  • Appoint a dedicated National Security Adviser, modelled on the US, UK and Japan, to align and hold agencies accountable.
  • Invest at least 3 per cent of GDP in defence – real increased funding to give our warfighters the weapons they need to defend our country and deter any adversary.
