About Jane
Jane Hume is the Shadow Minister for Finance, the Public Service and Shadow Special Minister of State.
Jane is a Liberal Party Senator from Victoria, having been elected in July 2016. Born and raised in Melbourne, Senator Hume completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, later returning to gain further qualifications in Political Science.
Subsequent to graduation, Senator Hume held various senior positions in the financial services industry, working for the National Australia Bank, Rothschild Australia, Deutsche Bank and, immediately prior to her election, as a Senior Policy Advisor at Australian Super. She has also served on a number of boards including the Royal Children’s Hospital, Federation Square, and Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia.
In recognition of her extensive experience in corporate and philanthropic organisations, on entering the Senate she was immediately appointed as Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Economics (Legislation).
She has served in a number of Ministerial roles, including most recently as the Minister for Superannuation, Financial Services and the Digital Economy, and as the Minister for Women’s Economic Security.
Outside of her career pursuits, Senator Hume enjoys swimming, reading, and most of all, spending time with her three children.
