Angus Taylor

Leader of the Opposition, Member for Hume

Our country needs change. Only the Coalition has the strong leadership, strong team, and strong plan to restore Australians’ standard of living and protect our way of life.

About Angus

Angus grew up on his family farm in the southern NSW town of Nimmitabel, before completing a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney, and going on to earn a Rhodes Scholarship to study economics at Oxford University.

Before entering Parliament he worked as a management consultant, advising Australian and global organisations across the energy, resources, agriculture and infrastructure sectors, helping them make smarter, long-term decisions.

In 1997, Angus married his wife Louise and since then has raised their four children in Goulburn, in regional NSW.

In 2013, he was elected to Parliament as the Member for Hume, from day one, he has focused on regional growth, strong local economies, and backing families, farmers and small businesses across the electorate.

From 2016 to 2022 Angus served as a minister across a number of portfolios, including as Minister for Law Enforcement and Cybersecurity, before spending the majority of his time as a minister within the Energy and Emissions Reduction portfolio.

OUR PLAN

Our vision is for Australia to be a country where anyone, no matter their background, dreams big and can get ahead through hard work.

The Albanese Government has put Australia into a state of decline.

Our country needs change. Only the Coalition has the strong leadership, strong team, and strong plan to restore Australians’ standard of living and protect our way of life.

Australia needs change. We need a Government that will put Australians first.
My team in the Coalition has solved problems, built businesses, created jobs and grown economies before entering politics, unlike Anthony Albanese. We know what it takes because we’ve lived in the real world, we’ve done it and we want to get this country back where it belongs.
Parents deserve to know their children are safe in childcare.

Right now, too many parents are losing confidence the system is doing enough to prevent perpetrators from slipping through the cracks.

That’s why the Coalition is calling for urgent action — including the establishment of a Childcare Perpetrator Register.

If a person is charged with offences against children in the childcare sector, these details should be communicated.

We have written to the Prime Minister calling for action. The opportunity is there for the Government to put politics aside, take our hand and work with us to strengthen protections for children.

The Government must also deliver on its promise of “banned in one, banned in all” Working With Children Check rules and stop missing its own deadlines.

Every parent deserves to know their child is in a safe place to learn and thrive.

We stand with parents and will continue fighting for stronger protections for children
From Camden Little Athletics to Commonwealth Games gold.

A huge congratulations to Josh Azzopardi and the Australian men’s 4x100m relay team on an incredible gold medal performance.

Josh’s journey began at Camden Little Athletics and Camden Athletics Club. Now, in his second Commonwealth Games, he’s shown what’s possible through hard work, dedication and local community support. @commgamesaus
Thank you to the hardworking Australians who run or work in a small and family business. You’re being treated like an ATM by this Labor Government. We will back you and help you get ahead.
There are a few reports in the media of my views that bigger government hasn’t solved problems—it’s actually made problems worse.

So here’s our not-so-secret plan and where we’d start to get rid of it.
Thank you to all the amazing people and small businesses we’ve met while taking our plan through Central Queensland!
So, how about it, @david_crisafulli? A ‘roll-off’ with @mattjcan and I next time we’re up at Queensland’s ‘best’ ice-cream shop, @radrolledicecream. Loser buys! 🍦
Who kneads a recipe for a Dad dinner.
We will scrap net zero and make Australia an energy superpower!
I’m proud of coal. I’m proud of all the resources Australia has been gifted. We need to use more of everything beneath our feet to be an energy independent nation.
