About Maggie
Maggie Forrest grew up in Brisbane’s western suburbs. She went to Brookfield State School as a young student. Today she and her husband Chris are raising their own family just down the road in Chapel Hill. Ryan is not just a seat Maggie hopes to win. It is home, and always has been.
One simple belief has driven Maggie’s whole career: everyone deserves someone in their corner. It took her from an Arts/Law degree at the University of Queensland to Cambridge, where she studied criminology and counterterrorism.
From there she moved to The Hague. She worked in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Her job was to help bring war criminals to justice.
She brought that same drive back to Queensland. As a barrister, Maggie acted for the Queensland Government in the Child Safety Commission of Inquiry. She stood up for children the system had failed.
She has given back to the field that trained her too, teaching law students at UQ.
Now Maggie wants to be in the corner of the community that shaped her.
Every day she hears from local families and small businesses doing it tough with the cost of living. As part of the Liberal National team, she will fight for a strong economy that keeps prices and taxes down.
As a working mum, she backs childcare choice. She wants families to have the freedom to make the choices that work for them.
She sits in the same clogged traffic as everyone else. She will work hard to improve roads and public transport across Brisbane’s western and northwestern suburbs.
With her background in criminal law, keeping the community safe will always come first.
Maggie has spent her career listening to people, then standing up for them. She wants to do the same for Ryan. She welcomes calls or emails from residents about what matters to them.
