About Angus
Angus grew up on his family farm in the southern NSW town of Nimmitabel, before completing a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney, and going on to earn a Rhodes Scholarship to study economics at Oxford University.
Before entering Parliament he worked as a management consultant, advising Australian and global organisations across the energy, resources, agriculture and infrastructure sectors, helping them make smarter, long-term decisions.
In 1997, Angus married his wife Louise and since then has raised their four children in Goulburn, in regional NSW.
In 2013, he was elected to Parliament as the Member for Hume, from day one, he has focused on regional growth, strong local economies, and backing families, farmers and small businesses across the electorate.
From 2016 to 2022 Angus served as a minister across a number of portfolios, including as Minister for Law Enforcement and Cybersecurity, before spending the majority of his time as a minister within the Energy and Emissions Reduction portfolio.

Australian families are struggling. You cannot solve a housing shortage by taxing housing investment, smashing confidence and making it harder to get new homes built.
We will axe Labor’s housing taxes, fix the economy and protect our way of life.

That’s what the Prime Minister thinks of anyone who is investing, taking a risk and trying to get ahead.
Labor wants to use negative gearing and capital gains tax changes to build their own wealth, then pull up the ladder behind them and deny other Australians the same opportunity.
Older Australians shouldn’t have to choose between keeping their private health cover and paying for essentials.
But that is exactly what Labor is asking them to do.
Under Labor’s plan, Australians aged 65+ will lose their private health insurance rebate, meaning they’ll face an increase of $807 for singles and $1,614 for couples a year in costs.
They’re doing this to our seniors while also subsidising home deposits and welfare for non-citizens.
It doesn’t make sense.
