Fix the economy. Protect our way of life.
OUR PLAN FOR
Less Migration and More Homes
Labor has lost control of migration.
Under the Albanese Government, the numbers have been too high and the standards have been too low, and because of Labor’s addiction to mass migration, there aren’t enough homes for Australians and our roads, schools, and hospitals are under strain.
OUR PLAN
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
- Cap net overseas migration each year below the number of new homes completed.
- Put Australian Values first – making compliance with the Australian Values Statement a binding condition for obtaining and holding a visa.
- Axe Labor’s housing taxes – increasing the number of homes by 35,000.
OUR PRIORITY
MIGRATION AND HOUSING PLEDGE
The Australian Dream of owning your own home has never been further out of reach.
Under Labor, the population has grown by 1.9 million people, mostly through migration, and has now passed 28 million.
Because of Labor’s addiction to mass migration, there aren’t enough homes for Australians and our roads, schools, and hospitals are under strain.
FACT: Under Labor, the housing shortfall is now 400,000 – roughly the population of Canberra.
Because Labor has lost control of migration, Australia has a housing crisis.
To free-up housing stock and to begin to restore the dream of home ownership, we will cap immigration numbers based on available housing. This will close Labor’s housing shortage.
Just as the immigration numbers have been too high, the immigration standards have been too low.
Labor has brought in more advertising professionals than carpenters.
A Coalition Government will overhaul our skilled migration program, bringing in the people with the skills that businesses desperately need.
OUR SOLUTION
The Coalition will link Australia’s migration intake to the number of new homes built.
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
- Cap net overseas migration each year below the number of new homes completed.
OUR PRIORITY
OUR AUSTRALIAN VALUES MIGRATION PLAN
Labor has lost control of migration.
Under the Albanese Government, the numbers have been too high and the standards have been too low.
Labor has brought in too many people who don’t believe in Australian values and seek to undermine our country.
They have also presided over an explosion of the number of unlawful non-citizens – people living in Australia after their visas have been refused.
- Around 77,000 unlawful non-citizens are estimated to be living in Australia.
Living in Australia is a privilege, not a right. Upholding Australian values is non-negotiable.
Our message is clear: if you respect our laws, freedoms and democracy, you are welcome. If you reject them, you will not stay.
This is about restoring fairness, integrity and public confidence in our migration system – to protect our way of life.
OUR PLAN
The Coalition will lower the numbers and lift the standards – strengthening Australian values, shutting the door to radicals and people who attempt to game our system:
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
- Put Australian Values first – making compliance with the Australian Values Statement a binding condition for obtaining and holding a visa, with breaches codified as grounds for failing the Character Test and being booted out of the country.
- Shut the door to migration system abuse – introducing a Safe Country List to fast-track refusal of unfounded protection claims, restoring Temporary Protection Visas, and funding law enforcement to deport people with no right to be here.
- Show a red light to radicals – establishing an Enhanced Screening Coordination Centre with standard social media vetting, integrating ASIO, AFP and Australian Border Force capabilities, and enabling real-time, risk-based visa vetting to block high-risk individuals before they travel.
OUR PRIORITY
BUILD MORE HOMES
Australia needs more homes.
Labor has failed on housing supply, spending $80 billion to build 30,000 fewer homes a year than under the Coalition.
The Albanese Government has made it harder and more expensive to build new homes.
Higher taxes on tradies, thousands of pages of new regulations, and a great big new government bureaucracy have turned the Australian dream of home ownership into a nightmare.
- Under Labor, Australia is building around 170,000 homes a year, compared with around 200,000 homes a year under the Coalition.
We want Australia to be the best place in the world to live and raise a family.
The Coalition will make it cheaper and easier to build new homes by axing Labor’s toxic taxes on families and tradies, slashing red and green tape, and getting rid of Labor’s failed housing bureaucracy.
OUR PLAN
A Taylor Coalition Government will:
- Establish a $5 billion Housing Infrastructure Fund to help unlock up to 400,000 new homes, including in regional Australia, by funding essential last-mile infrastructure such as water, sewerage, power and access roads.
- Reserve the First Home Buyers 5% Deposit Scheme for Australian citizens only.
- Simplify the National Construction Code, while preserving core safety standards, to cut the cost of building a new home by up to $70,000.
- Axe Labor’s ineffective Housing Australia Future Fund, as well as their Build-to-Rent tax breaks for multinationals.
- Axe Labor’s housing taxes – increasing the number of homes by 35,000.
