“The Albanese active inflation agenda is making small business unsustainable and unviable with profitability falling backwards 15 per cent in real terms”, said Shadow Treasurer, Tim Wilson, today.
Mr Wilson's comments follow the release of ABS business data showing that, adjusted for inflation, small business profits are down 15 per cent since the June quarter 2022, with real company profits down 23.4 per cent over the same period.
“We know the Albanese government’s active inflation agenda has kneecapped households with real wages falling backwards by 1.5 per cent, and small business has fallen ten times further behind, with real profits down 15 per cent”, Mr Wilson said.
“Businesses are paying more for wages, but workers' wages are buying less at the supermarket”.
“Labor has no growth agenda, instead it is redistributing from small business to the government”.
“Labor’s economic agenda is designed to stoke inflation, tax inflation and spend inflation in a vicious cycle that makes Australians poorer and makes it almost impossible to do business”.
“Nothing the Albanese government is doing is helping Australians get ahead, they’re only focused on feeding themselves and their ecosystem”, Mr Wilson said.
