Biography

Luke understands that small business is the backbone of the Australian economy. For a decade he worked as a sales representative for Toombul Music and Sony Australia, before joining the family business as Managing Director for Sandgate Pest Control.

Family means everything to Luke. He and his wife Louise are proud parents to three boys – Will, Tom and Sam.

Luke decided to become involved in politics as he was frustrated by the impact that unions were having on small businesses such as his.

Throughout his six years as the Federal Member for Petrie, Luke has fought tirelessly for local programs and infrastructure projects that benefit the community. He has passionately supported the chaplaincy program, advocated for the interests of small business and worked to ensure that our defence force and security agencies are provided with the resources they need to keep the people of Petrie and Australia safe.

Representing the people of Petrie in Canberra has been one of the most rewarding experiences in Luke’s life and he has loved every moment of it. However, he still believes that there is much work still to be done. The Morrison Government has worked hard to build a strong economy and he does not want to see this undone by Bill Shorten’s plan to slug Australians with $387 billion in higher taxes. It is for this reason that he is again asking the people of Petrie for their support at this election.

From Luke

The outbreak of COVID-19 in Victoria is of grave concern. After speaking to Premier Dan Andrews yesterday, I have agreed to send 800 more support staff there to help combat the jump in cases. They’ll help with testing, contact tracing, community engagement and door knocking. We can leave no stone unturned and no resource unapplied when it comes to this virus. We’ve seen how quickly and easily it spreads and we stand united in our fight against it. I also urge Victorians, and all Australians, to continue following the health advice. That is: 1️⃣ Practice good hygiene - wash your hands regularly and thoroughly. 2️⃣ Maintain physical distancing - stay 1.5m away from other people, wherever possible. 3️⃣ If you’re even slightly sick, stay at home and if you have any symptoms at all, no matter how mild, get tested.
