Biography

Joanne van der Plaat is a Cooma local with the experience and local knowledge to deliver for Eden-Monaro.

Jo attended Monaro High. She lives on a small farm near Cooma, where she and her husband raised their two children.

Jo is a lawyer who has practiced locally for over 20 years. She is the Immediate Past President of the Law Society of NSW.

Jo is passionate about serving her community. She is a member of the Dry Plains/Wambrook Rural Fire Brigade and a former director of a Cooma community aged care facility, board member of St Patrick's Parish School and vice president of Snowy’s Place.

Jo understands the pressures facing local families and small businesses. She will be part of a team that works to reduce inflation and strengthen our economy.

Her experience in running a business, leading the legal profession and serving her community, gives Jo the skills to deliver the infrastructure and services Eden-Monaro needs.
