Carbon Tax Must Be Stopped to Save Local Jobs

The Government’s Carbon Tax which is set to be introduced on July 1, should be stopped to save local jobs.
This is the worst possible time to hit businesses and families with a $100 billion tax.
Companies are struggling to compete internationally due to the high Australian dollar with the loss of 350 jobs at Toyota the latest blow to Australia’s manufacturing sector.
The announcement follows Ford’s decision to cut 250 jobs along with other recent jobs losses at SPC, Heinz, BlueScope Steel and aluminium producers.
Unfortunately there is a real threat to job security for Australian workers.
Adding a Carbon Tax will which will start in six months time will make the situation worse.
A study by the Victorian Government estimated it would result in 35,000 fewer jobs than if no Carbon Tax was introduced.
It is essential that the Prime Minister act now and stop the introduction of this job destroying tax.
The Carbon Tax will drive up the cost of electricity and diesel fuel for businesses which are already struggling to compete.
The Carbon Tax is a direct assault on blue collar jobs from a party that has become the enemy of the worker and the puppet of the Greens.
