Our Plan to get Australia back on track

We will deliver safer communities

Peter Dutton with older lady

A Coalition Government will crack down on crime. Our comprehensive plan under Operation Safer Communities will be backed by more than $750 million in funding.

This includes a National Drug Enforcement and Organised Crime Strike Team to tackle illegal drugs, with dedicated Australian Federal Police teams in each state and territory.

Every dollar seized from drug dealers and criminal cartels will go towards helping communities.

We will introduce tough new laws to disrupt organised criminal syndicates.

We will upgrade Australia’s screening and detection capabilities to intercept drugs at the border.

A Coalition Government will provide leadership in tackling knife crime.

This includes funding a national roll-out of detector wands to help police get weapons off our streets. We will also work with states and territories to develop uniform knife laws, restricting the sale and possession for minors and dangerous individuals.

A Coalition Government will provide additional funding to Crime Stoppers.

We will double funding for the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation to remove children from harm.

We will also introduce a National Child Sex Offenders Disclosure Scheme. This will provide parents with more information about risks in their communities.

A Coalition Government will also make it an offence to use mobile phone and computer networks to cause an intimate partner or family member to fear for their personal safety, to track them using spyware, or engage in coercive behaviours.

We will toughen the bail laws that apply to these new Commonwealth offences.

A Coalition Government will make it illegal to post material glamourising violence, drug and property crimes.

It will take a Coalition Government to once again stop the people smugglers and deport criminals.

A Coalition Government will also turn the tide of antisemitism afflicting our country.

Some of the most strident antisemitic standard-bearers have come from our university campuses.

We will establish a dedicated Antisemitism Taskforce to turn the tide against this scourge.

We will provide leadership and make it clear we expect the law to be enforced readily – not reluctantly – against those who incite hatred and violence.
