About Claire
Claire Chandler is the Shadow Minister for Government Services and the Digital Economy, Shadow Minister for Science and the Arts, and a Liberal Senator for Tasmania.
Claire has lived and worked in Tasmania all her life. She grew up in the Huon Valley, received her Arts/Law degree at the University of Tasmania, and worked in Hobart.
Claire’s motivation for entering politics was to ensure more opportunities for young Tasmanians to remain in the state rather than move to the mainland.
She is a strong advocate for Tasmanians to have the best possible access to education and training, maintaining infrastructure investment, and looking for ways to make it easier for local businesses to get ahead.
Since her election in 2019, Claire has also worked closely on the protection of women’s rights and single-sex sports. She previously served as the Shadow Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Prior to entering the Senate, Claire worked as a client manager in the Hobart office of a Big Four financial services firm. She is a former Federal President of the Young Liberals and has held various offices within the Tasmanian Division of the Liberal Party.
