Our Plan FOR

A Fairer, freer and better australia

Since Labor was elected, Australia has had the biggest fall in living standards in the developed world.

Labor’s record spending means the budget is now forecast to be in deficit for a decade and debt is about to pass $1 trillion.

Labor’s Budget is an assault on aspiration.

It is locking young Australians out of opportunities afforded to older Australians, by whacking higher taxes on housing, savings, investment and small businesses.

Hidden in the budget papers is also a 30% inheritance tax by stealth – targeting popular family trust structures used by everyday Australians to save, invest, and pass on assets to their children.

Because Labor can’t manage money, they’re coming after yours.

The Coalition is putting forward policies to restore Australians’ standard of living and protect our way of life.

Our plan will reward hard work, restore home ownership, bring down debt, back small business and secure Australia’s future.

Tax Back Guarantee

The Coalition will introduce a new Tax Back Guarantee.

This will index tax thresholds to inflation, so you keep more of what you earn.

Even before the conflict in Iran, Australia’s inflation was higher than any major advanced economy.

This means higher grocery prices and power bills.

But inflation also means more tax.

Currently, when your pay goes up with inflation, you can be pushed into higher tax brackets.

This is called “bracket creep”. It means the Government takes more tax every year, without needing to change the law.

The Coalition will fix this by indexing income tax thresholds to inflation, so Australians are not taxed more simply because prices have gone up.

From 2028-29, a Coalition government will index the bottom two income tax thresholds to inflation.

This will fully protect around 85 per cent of income earners, delivering relief of around $250 in the first year and more than $1,000 a year by year four.

From 2031-32, the Coalition will also index the top two thresholds, fully protecting all taxpayers from inflation.

This is real tax reform that is fair, simple and honest.

It will force governments to respect your money. It will mean no more secret tax rises through inflation.

Scrapping Labor’s taxes

Labor is whacking higher taxes on housing, savings, investments and small businesses.

The Coalition will fight these taxes tooth and nail.

If they become law under Labor, a Coalition government will repeal them.

Labor’s negative gearing changes will make it harder for young Australians to buy or rent a home by reducing the number of homes available.

Labor’s capital gains tax changes will discourage the investment Australia needs to grow.

Labor’s small business tax changes will punish small and family businesses that are already working harder than ever.

We will also abolish Labor’s Safeguard Mechanism and other net zero carbon taxes, which drive up the cost of essential building materials, undermine investment and push industry offshore.

When government taxes something, you get less of it. Less housing, less saving, less investment and less small business.

The Coalition will back aspiration and reward hard work by scrapping these taxes.

Migration and Housing Pledge

The Coalition will restore common sense to housing and migration by making sure Australia only brings in as many people as it can house.

Under Labor, Australia has already taken in 1.4 million people — equivalent to the population of Adelaide — far more people than Australia has built homes for.

Under our plan, net overseas migration will be capped each year based on the number of new homes completed.

If Australia does not build enough homes, migration will come down.

In the early years of a Coalition government, migration will need to be significantly below the cap to allow the housing market to catch up after Labor’s record migration.

This pledge will be backed by a housing supply package.

We will establish a $5 billion Housing Infrastructure Fund to help unlock up to 400,000 homes by funding essential last-mile infrastructure such as water, sewerage, power and access roads.

The Coalition will also simplify the National Construction Code, while preserving core safety standards, to cut the cost of building a new home by up to $70,000.

Our immigration cut will complement our plan to lift immigration standards.

We will make the existing Australian Values Statement an enforceable visa condition.

Our plan to put Australian values at the heart of immigration policy

Future Generations Fund

Since Labor came to office, it has received almost half-a-trillion dollars in revenue upgrades, mostly driven by higher resource prices.

Instead of paying down debt and building our nation, Labor has squandered resource profits with self-indulgent spending.

The Coalition will establish a Future Generations Fund to ensure resource windfalls are used responsibly.

Where resource tax revenues are higher than forecast, we will bank 80 cents in every dollar into the Future Generations Fund.

The Fund will help pay down Labor’s trillion dollars of debt and invest in nation-building infrastructure.

Twenty-five per cent of infrastructure flows from the Fund will support the regions that fuel, feed and power our nation.

This is about responsibility to our children and grandchildren.

It is about making sure today’s good fortune builds tomorrow’s strength.

Putting Australians First

Many Australians would be surprised to learn that non-citizens are eligible for welfare.

This government funds welfare for non-citizens as soon as they arrive on our soil.

Labor has also allowed some 50,000 non-citizens to access the first home buyer 5% Deposit Scheme.

At the same time, Labor has cut the Private Health Insurance rebate for Australians over 65 and slashed $750 million from veterans.

The Coalition will put Australians first by reserving welfare payments and future eligibility for the NDIS for Australian citizens.

From 1 July 2028, access to 17 welfare payments and benefits will be limited to Australian citizens only.

Future eligibility for the NDIS will also be limited to Australian citizens.

Existing recipients of these benefits and the NDIS will be grandfathered.

Australia is a generous country with a strong social safety net.

But taxpayer-funded support should be there first and foremost for Australians.

If you commit to Australia, Australia will commit to you.

Boosting Small Business Investment

The Coalition will back small businesses to invest with a permanent $50,000 instant asset write-off.

Any business with a turnover of less than $10 million will be able to immediately deduct assets costing up to $50,000, on a permanent basis.

This will help tradies buy tools, farmers buy equipment, cafes upgrade kitchens and small businesses invest with confidence.

When a builder buys a ute, they can do more jobs, take on a new apprentice and grow their business.

Ninety-eight per cent of Australian businesses are small businesses.

When small business invests, it grows. When small business grows, Australia grows.

The Coalition will also fight Labor’s changes to capital gains tax and trusts, which are an attack on small business.

Fuel Security Plan

The Coalition will deliver more fuel, more storage and more security for Australia.

If fuel stops, Australia stops.

We will reduce pressure on families and small businesses by scrapping Labor’s Safeguard Mechanism, a carbon tax on business that will cost refineries around $165 million by 2029-30.

To build strategic fuel security, the Coalition will more than double minimum stockholding levels to 60 days for petrol, diesel and jet fuel. This will put total fuel stocks within reach of 90 days.

A Coalition government will also establish an $800 million Australian Fuel Security Facility to unlock more than one billion litres of new storage capacity.

The Coalition will unlock Australian fuel supply by reversing regulatory barriers, reforming the EPBC Act and fast-tracking nationally significant projects such as Queensland’s Taroom oil field and Western Australia’s Browse Basin offshore gas field.

We will also reinstate the $100 million Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive, including $50 million for oil and gas.

We will make sure Australia has the fuel, storage and supply chains needed to keep the country moving.

Our energy plan and our commitment to scrap Labor’s net zero target

Strengthening Australia’s Security

The Coalition will make Australia stronger and safer in the face of global threats with a whole-of-nation National Security Strategy and increased defence funding.

Australians face growing threats from terrorism, organised crime, cyber attacks, foreign espionage and overseas conflict.

Yet Labor has no clear plan for how Australia will overcome these threats and keep Australians safe.

Our National Security Strategy will address this critical gap and ensure all parts of government work together to prevent and respond to threats to our country.

By increasing defence spending to at least 3 per cent of GDP, the Coalition will provide real increases to defence funding so the men and women of the Australian Defence Force have the platforms, equipment and protection they need to fight for us.

Australia is worth fighting for

Australians are struggling on many fronts.

They are worried about their future, their children’s future and the state of our country.

Our plan is about restoring our standard of living and protecting our way of life.

Australia is worth fighting for, now more than ever.
