Llew O’Brien is the Federal Member for Wide Bay. He was elected to the Australian Parliament at the 2016 Federal Election. Before he was elected, Llew served as a Police Officer in the Wide Bay region for more than 15 years, making our streets and communities safer. Llew has received both State and National Medals for his Police service between 1999 and 2016. In 2010 Llew was awarded the Queensland Police Service Medal. In 2011 Mr O'Brien was awarded the Queensland Flood and Cyclone Citation. In April 2015 Llew was awarded a 15 year clasp to the Queensland Police Service Medal. In 2016 Llew was awarded both the National Police Service Medal and the National Medal for ethical and diligent service. Llew is married to Sharon and they chose to raise their three children in Wide Bay because they love the region. Strengthening the economy to create local jobs, upgrading roads and building a better Bruce Highway, improving mobile and broadband communications, supporting investments in health and education, making local streets and communities safer, and taking practical action to improve the environment are priorities for Llew and the Liberal Nationals Government. Llew is committed to working with all levels of government to deliver better services to Wide Bay to ensure that every local family, household and business has the opportunity to share in our nation’s prosperity.
