A third generation Territorian, Kathy was born and raised in Tennant Creek as one of six children. Despite her personal circumstances, Kathy backed herself and pursued a career in the law, whilst financially supporting her dream. Her persistence paid off and led to a diverse and extensive career, which commenced as Associate to the Chief Justice. Kathy's life as a lawyer in private practice and the corporate sector was enhanced by her open mind and to see things differently. Kathy forged a career in alternate dispute resolution through independent statutory roles in investigation then conciliation/mediation, when Kathy assisted disputing parties to come to mutually agreeable outcomes. As Judicial Registrar of the Local / Work Health Court, Kathy case managed all civil matters and conducted mandatory conciliations. Kathy also presided over small claims and crimes victims assistance applications, along with making determinations under the Local Court Act and Work Health Court Act, and issuing warrants and orders to protect the rights of children. Kathy has held many board and statutory roles requiring appointment by Ministers and the Administrator of NT. Kathy achieved her career dream role when she was appointed Deputy Coroner of the NT, a role she fulfilled for 6 years. At the time, Kathy was also a mandatory member and Deputy Convenor of the Child Deaths Review and Prevention Committee. Her experience and interest in the mental health commenced early in her career and was solidified in her role as a Solicitor with the Anti-Discriminion Commission, which led to her role as Legal Member of a Panel to review mental health providers. As Legal Member on the Mental Health Review Tribunal for 6 years, Kathy was privileged, honoured and humbled to work with patients and their families, along with medical and community members and medical and nursing teams to treat vulnerable members of the Territory community. Kathy is passionate about the Territory, to which she is committed, loves and proud to call home, like many Territorians. Kathy’s commitment to the Territory is demonstrated by her full time (unpaid) commitment to her campaign over the past year. Kathy is married with two children and lives in her electorate of Solomon. Most important, Kathy is a strong supporter of Territory business, and is determined to fight against escalating and unaddressed crime and the dire economic position created by the Territory Labor government Kathy believes with adversity comes community spirit, pride and support - Kathy fights for merit and equal fair go for all Territorians.
