Jane Prentice has been the Federal Member for the electorate of Ryan since 2010. She was appointed Assistant Minister for Disability Services in February 2016 and reappointed as Assistant Minister for Social Services and Disability Services in July 2016.

Prior to her election to Federal Parliament, Jane served for 10 years as Councillor for the Brisbane City Council ward of Walter Taylor.

Jane has had the pleasure of calling our community home for more than 30 years. Together with her husband, Ian and children, George and Caitlin, the Prentices have lived, worked and raised a family in Ryan. Maintaining and enhancing the Ryan way of life is what drove Jane to stand for public office and what she fights for everyday.

In Council Jane was a member of Civic Cabinet, with the portfolio of Public and Active Transport and Economic Development Committee (including the Asian Pacific Cities Summit).

Jane also served as Leader of the Opposition in Council in 2007 and 2008.

In 2006, Jane was appointed by the Lord Mayor to Chair the City’s Water and Sewerage Infrastructure Assets Review.

From 2004-2008 Jane was the Lord Mayor’s Spokesman (Liberal Lord Mayor but ALP Cabinet) on City Businesses – which included Brisbane Water and the many issues associated with the drought.

Before entering public life, Jane owned and managed a successful convention and event management company for twenty years and was responsible for organising many of Queensland’s largest events.

Jane was honoured to be elected as the Federal Member for Ryan at the August 2010 Election and is committed to achieving real results locally and building a better future for Ryan as a strong voice for our community in the Federal Parliament.

Jane lives with her family in Pullenvale and is determined to see Ryan grow and flourish.
