Newspapers: Rudd is all talk, no action
JAMES MCGRATH DEPUTY FEDERAL DIRECTOR | 04/02/10
Today’s newspapers (795 days of broken promises, Rudd yet to deliver, Trail of broken promises) have highlighted Mr Rudd’s failure to back up talk with real action by releasing an extensive list of Labor broken promises since coming to office in 2007.
The list of Mr Rudd’s broken promises includes:
- Abandoning his pledge to monitor grocery prices when it scrapped the Grocery Choice website, at a cost of $10 million to taxpayers;
- Failing to keep petrol prices low through his proposed Fuel Watch scheme;
- Back-flipping on his promise to leave the private health insurance rebate untouched;
- Abolishing his promised $4.7 billion national broadband network and replacing it with a $43 billion proposal.
With Australian families under increasing pressure, it’s time for Mr Rudd to stop the talk and finally take action.
The Liberals understand the challenges faced by Australian families every day. We will continue to hold Mr Rudd and Labor to account and make sure Australian families get the results they were promised.
