  • PM Must Release Full Home Insulation Report

    21/02/12

Prime Minister Gillard must release the full report into the home insulation debacle which indicates that lives could have been saved if proper processes had originally been put in place.

Once more the Government has been caught out covering up the pink batts fiasco and has clearly not learnt anything from its mistakes.

The Insulation Advisory Panel report, has been obtained by The Age, under Freedom of Information and is scathing of the Government’s failure to undertake a basic assessment before implementing the program.

Had the Government done this simple work before hand, the four lives lost due to this scheme could have been saved.

The pink batts scheme has been bungled from the beginning.

The Government should stop the cover ups and release this report in full and any others it may have hidden away.

This has cost Australian taxpayers $2.5 billion, four lives have been lost, there have been more than 200 house fires and the mess continues.

Just last week, Department officials told Senate Estimates last that it is has issued 2,035 letters of demand to installers seeking $21.3 million of which $18.1 million is still outstanding.
