Victorian job losses sign of more to come
17/01/12
The announcement that more than 30 jobs are to go from a Victorian company is further confirmation of the devastating impact the Carbon Tax will have on the job security of Australian workers.
Smallgoods producer Don KRC in Castlemaine has announced that 31 jobs in its logistics section will no longer be required due to increased input costs, including the cost of energy.
This will be a significant blow to the local community and disappointing considering the investment the company has committed to its operations in Central Victoria.
Unfortunately we expect there will be more businesses over the coming months having to make similar tough decisions, as they ready for the financial impact of the Carbon Tax.
Last week, 250 jobs were lost in NSW from the aluminium sector.
The Carbon Tax will drive up the cost of electricity and diesel fuel for businesses which are already struggling to compete, fully aware that they their customers can’t afford to pay the flow on costs.
The Carbon Tax is a direct assault on blue collar jobs from a party that has become the enemy of the worker and the puppet of the Greens.
