  • Illawarra to be Hit with Massive Job Losses Under Carbon Tax

    04/08/11

The Illawarra will suffer massive job losses under Labor’s Carbon Tax according to new figures from the NSW Treasury.

The independent modelling reveals  jobs losses across the state will total  31,000 with close to a quarter coming from  the Illawarra.

Under Labor’s Carbon Tax 7,000 workers in the Illawarra will lose their jobs.

This will be a major blow to local business and families.

How can Labor allow this to happen in the Illawarra?

On top of the job losses, families will be hit with even higher electricity prices.

The latest figures show power costs will go up 15 per cent.

This independent modelling exposes Labor’s claims that households will not be worse off under the Carbon Tax.

It’s another reminder that Labor can’t be trusted when it comes to the Carbon Tax and the impact it will have on the cost of living for families.

The NSW figures show that businesses will pay more than $4,200 a year,  just when many are battling to survive.

This is the last thing the Illawarra economy needs at the moment and comes a day after NSW registered  the worst retail trade figures in 50 years.

We can’t afford the largest state to be losing jobs and its economy held back because of a massive tax.  That will hit everyone.

Julia Gillard must now dump this unpopular and economically damaging tax.
