The Multi-Party Climate Change Committee must cancel the unnecessary and wasteful $12 million Government campaign to advertise the non-existent carbon tax, at its meeting today. The MPCC hasn't even agreed on how the tax would work. They should not approve $12 million to advertise it. MPCC members must show they are more than a rubber stamp, and must take a stand on behalf of all Australians who don't want their money wasted on this advertising campaign. A key question to be addressed at today's MPCC meeting is whether Labor is building a $25 million warchest for carbon tax ads. The federal budget included $13.7 million for carbon ads, and now there's another $12 million.
And MPCC members should ask questions about the $3 million program for community organisations to engage with the public on "a clean energy future", announced yesterday. Does this amount to rewards to like-minded groups who support the carbon tax?
