Today’s Sydney Morning Herald article concerning Labor’s continuing failure to address Special Forces pay bungles highlights this Government’s incompetence.

That SAS soldiers would be made to repay departmental overpayments is absolutely deplorable.

The Gillard Labor Government has failed in its duty of care for our Defence Force personnel and tried to cover up their own inaction.

They have botched successive pay issues dating back to 2008 and their so called ADF Payroll ‘task force’ has failed to deliver results.

The ‘task force’ has now been shown to be nothing more than a smoke and mirrors policy designed to give the illusion of action.

Labor promised to implement 10 measures to accelerate the reform of the ADF pay roll system – this latest insult to our brave special forces soldiers proves Labor has failed.

You just can’t believe Labor will do what they say.

There is a demonstrated pattern of irresponsible behaviour on behalf of the Gillard Labor Government when it comes to national security and Defence matters.

They have failed to deliver on their election promises to help veterans and ex-service personnel and they have repeatedly failed to take control of the escalating ADF payment system crisis.

All Labor has done is have its underperforming Veterans’ Affairs Minister write to its Finance Minister - who is not even contesting this election.

We’re standing up for real action to help ADF personnel and their families.
