Just like BER: More Labor Waste in the Green Loans Fiasco
06/08/10
Julia Gillard’s Government today admitted to more waste and mismanagement under its failed Green Loans program.
Earlier this week we revealed how the Labor Government was trying to send $50 cheques during the election campaign to people not even involved in the program.
This was a clear demonstration of fraudulent claims made by some Green Loans assessors in order to claim their $200 fee for carrying out home assessments.
Today, the Government quietly uploaded an advisory onto its Climate Change website that the Labor Government is now:
“…aware of a relatively small number of anomalies where a householder may have received a letter in error.” *1
Peter Garrett also used the same language about a relatively small number of anomalies in the early days of the pink batts disaster.
Today’s quiet admission confirms rorting and waste in yet another flawed Rudd-Gillard Government program.
Julia Gillard today said that stimulus programs like her BER represented “a trade-off between time and cost and quality”. But that was the same excuse she and Kevin Rudd used for pink batts and Green Loans.
The Rudd-Gillard waste, whether it’s in Green Loans, BER, or pink batts, simply cannot ever be justified.
