Gillard’s ‘Policy Transition Group’ confirms mining tax slug not finished
03/08/10
Julia Gillard confirmed today their mining tax slug is not finished and the mining industry may yet see further changes with the announcement of the ominous ‘policy transition group’.
This proves they don’t have a clear plan on how the tax is going to be implemented, or what tax will apply.
The broad terms of reference which include determining the taxing point and even the definition of a project highlight Labor’s incompetence and the fact the mining super tax is another Labor policy clunker.
Nothing Labor has said on the mining super tax can be trusted. From the vague terms of reference – it could mean everything is back on the table.
Julia Gillard and Wayne Swan are ensuring that the uncertainty created by their great big tax on mining isn’t going away, that financing issues aren’t going away, and that mining jobs still aren’t safe from Labor’s great big new tax.
The Labor Mining Tax has always been about bailing the Labor Government out from the massive debt it has accumulated – because of their wasteful, reckless spending.
Despite Labor’s vicious knifing of Kevin Rudd, Australians can still expect to be slugged with the full effects of Labor’s resources tax grab, which is compromising investment and undermining Australian jobs.
The faceless men who run Julia Gillard’s Government have delivered uncertainty, not policy, not a decision and no real outcomes for real people.
Labor’s announcement today is an admission that yet again they have got it wrong – their solution is just another talk fest.
The Coalition is standing up for real action – we want to stop the taxes.
