Labor’s own candidates “disappointed” with Gillard’s Citizens Assembly clunker
02/08/10
The ALP’s candidate for Sturt has expressed his disappointment with Labor’s Citizens Assembly policy at a street corner meeting:
“I’m disappointed that the announcement that Julia made a couple of weeks ago didn’t satisfy me that she was pushing climate change to the level of the agenda that it should be.” – Rick Sarre, 891 ABC Adelaide
The candidate for Sturt is not alone – Labor’s Citizens Assembly clunker is so disappointing, Julia Gillard didn’t even bother taking it to Cabinet.
If Labor’s own candidates are “disappointed” – imagine how disappointed the rest of Australia is with the Prime Minister’s embarrassing Citizens Assembly talk-fest.
In contrast the Coalition has a Direct Action Plan for the environment, with $3.2 billion of investment over 4 years into real projects like an Emissions Reduction Fund and Direct Action on Renewable Energy, including the funding of mid-scale solar energy projects.
We’re standing up for real action on climate change.
