Julie has lived in the electorate of Curtin for over 26 years.
Growing up on a cherry and apple orchard in the Adelaide Hills, Julie attended Basket Range Primary School and St Peter’s Girls’ School for her secondary education and was Head Prefect in Year 12.
In 1978 Julie obtained a law degree from Adelaide University and began work in a private law firm, becoming a partner of an Adelaide law firm at the age of 26, before moving to Perth in 1983.
From 1983 to 1998 Julie worked as a lawyer at Clayton Utz specialising in commercial litigation. In 1994 Julie was elected Managing Partner of the Perth office of Clayton Utz, which had 27 partners and about 200 employees at that time.
Julie was brought up to believe that public office is one of the highest callings, and was elected to represent the people of Curtin in 1998.
As the first Western Australian to be the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, Julie is a strong voice for the state and its people in the Coalition leadership team.
